Three Square is excited to announce the grand opening of the Three Square Food Bank. We’ve entered into a partnership with America’s Second Harvest, a national network of more than 200 food banks and organizations nationwide, to open the Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas. It will serve as the heart of the anti-hunger network here in the Valley, collecting truckloads of donated food from the local food industry and from national donors through America’s Second Harvest.
• Food donations collected by the Three Square Food Bank will be distributed to local nonprofit and faith-based partners operating food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, senior centers and other programs in Las Vegas.
• The Three Square Food Bank will operate out of the facility previously utilized by the Community Food Bank of Clark County – at 4190 N. Pecos Road. The Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution transferring ownership of this facility to Three Square on October 16, 2007.
• America’s Second Harvest has granted Three Square $1,850,000 to help fund the first year of operations of the Three Square Food Bank.
• Three Square is also currently serving 3,000 meals per week to five local nonprofit agencies as a ‘proof of concept’ for the importance and viability of food production.
• Three Square is continuing with its long-term plan to open the Three Square food campus, encompassing the Three Square Food Bank, a food production component, and a food rescue operation with job training throughout, in 2010.
