State Policy/Legislature

Nevada’s legislature heard, debated, and voted on many bills regarded as priorities to hunger-relief and anti-poverty organizations. Committee hearings, especially in the beginning of each session are “listening” sessions wherein potential impacts of budget cuts, program elimination, and under-utilized federal programs are discussed. Opportunities to interact with legislators abound both during the legislative session as well as in between sessions!

55% of children in the Clark County School District are enrolled in free and reduced-price meal programs based on their family income. That’s over 170,000 kids facing hunger at home and coming to school unprepared to learn.
