Food Insecurity
One in eight people in the Las Vegas Valley are unsure about having enough food to eat. That comes from a recent report from Three Square – the valley’s wholesale food bank….Three Square Chief Executive Officer Julie Murray talks about the problem and what can be done to fix it, even in these hard economic times.

The number of Americans seeking food at charities has gone up 47 percent from five years ago. Hungry Americans now number a staggering 37 million. One local food bank took part in a national study and released its own report on the hunger problem in Southern Nevada.

Dozens of nonprofit agencies report donations are down, perhaps because people are trying to save money. Any resources or food left at these agencies are getting stretched thin.
