LAS VEGAS (MAY 27, 2025) — Three Square Food Bank and its community partners will continue providing summer meals to children in need through the “Meet Up and Eat Up” program. From Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, Aug. 8, children who rely on free and reduced-price lunch during the regular school year can access free nutritious food through this program, which encompasses the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
With the rising cost of groceries, housing, and other essential needs, families across Southern Nevada are experiencing significant financial strain. As a result, thousands of Clark County School District (CCSD) students rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year. However, when school ends each summer, many of these children are at risk of food insecurity. Currently, 21.6% of children in Southern Nevada – or one in five, which equates to 113,610– live in a food-insecure household. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Nevada Department of Agriculture, Meet Up and Eat Up bridges the gap to prevent childhood hunger during the summer months by providing free meals to children in need.
“For too many Southern Nevada children, the end of school means the end of school meal programs, a crucial source of nutrition,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square. “With thousands of families struggling to put food on their tables, programs like Meet Up and Eat Up can bridge the gap, providing relief for parents and ensuring that every child has the food they need to continue their healthy development.”
Meet Up and Eat Up sites offer free nutritious meals for children 18 years of age or younger throughout the valley. Meal sites are located at parks and recreation centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, libraries, day camps, and apartment complexes. To reach children closer to home, Three Square will also deliver meals to select apartment communities using refrigerated vans. The summer menu includes 20 rotating meal options and sites may serve breakfast, lunch or both. All meals are provided free of charge to children, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. There is no discrimination in the course of meal service, and meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
With the help of volunteers and partners, Three Square will pack approximately 20,000 meals Monday through Friday of each week throughout the summer. For a comprehensive list of locations, please visit freesummerfood.org. Southern Nevada residents are also encouraged to call the Three Square Center for more information at 702.765.4030 Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
